The movie and gaming worlds have come together to mourn the passing of Ray Liotta. The Goodfellas actor passed away in his sleep on Thursday, May 26, at just 67 years old.

Liotta has become a movie icon during his long career in film, which started with Field of Dreams in 1989, and also featured arguably his most well-known role as the lead in Goodfellas. In recent years, Liotta starred in Marriage Story in 2019, and then No Sudden Move and The Many Saints of Newark in 2021.

Liotta became a beloved figure in the gaming world as well after voicing Tommy Vercetti in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in 2002. In a Reddit AMA eight years ago, Liotta told a fan he would have loved to portray Tommy Vercetti in a Grand Theft Auto movie.

"I had no idea. I'm not a game player. I was never a Pac-Man guy, I was never into that stuff at all," Liotta told Conan O'Brien in 2003 when asked about if he knew video games were such a big deal. "It sold like 8 million units. It's huge. And it was fun. You just sit there and curse at people. It was fun to do."

Two months ago, Liotta admitted he still hadn't played Grand Theft Auto but said he "knew what the goal" of the game was due to his voice lines. "All I do is curse and call people whores," Liotta laughed.

Liotta was filming a new movie called Dangerous Waters in the Dominican Republic when he passed away earlier today. It's currently not public what the cause of death was, but TMZ reported that no one suspects foul play. Liotta is survived by his 23-year-old daughter and his fiance Jacy Nittolo.
