From a middle-of-the-road regular season to a historic playoffs run, Evil Geniuses have shocked the world and showed the true potential of North American teams and players. Through their back-to-back 3-0 performances this weekend, EG bucked every single doubt about their team and swept playoffs in spectacular fashion.

Confident play and drafting combined with near-flawless execution earned EG the fastest playoff finals victory in LCS history. 

EG mid laner Joseph "jojopyun" Joon Pyun and AD carry Kyle "Danny" Sakamaki, the latter named finals MVP, played key carry roles in their victories against both 100 Thieves and their prior set against Team Liquid. Normally back-to-back 3-0s wouldn’t be hype, but EG’s underdog status combined well with the crowd being won over with their high-octane, teamfight-focused playstyle.

No amount of focus on either Danny or jojopyun’s champion pools could keep them down, and, no matter what 100 Thieves tried, they failed to find a way past Evil Geniuses' foolproof identity of giving Danny every resource he could ever want.

In the press conference, EG looked almost like a team, disappointed that no one could push them to their limites. Inspired was setting his sights on G2, the next hurdle for Evil Geniuses come MSI 2022, which takes place in Busan, South Korea next month. Between this being EG’s very first LCS title and the dominant fashion in which they won, the 2022 Spring Split Playoffs will be remembered as one of the most surprising and one-sided sets of games we’ve ever seen.
