Of the 17 teams competing in the 2022 LPL Spring Split, 10 teams entered the post-season, and now, only four of those teams are left alive to compete for the title of best team in China and represent their region at the upcoming 2022 Mid-Season Invitational. The four teams still fighting in the 2022 LPL Spring Playoffs are Top Esports, Victory Five, JD Gaming and Royal Never Give Up.
Because of their top placings, Victory Five and Royal Never Give Up started the 2022 LPL Spring Playoffs in round 4, but Top Esports and JD Gaming have had slightly lengthier routes throughout the post-season. Top Esports began their post-season run in round 2 of the LPL Spring Playoffs bracket and faced off against Bilibili Gaming, who had defeated Rare Atom 3-1 in round 1. TES beat BLG 3-1 before upsetting LNG Esports 3-0 in round 3, which set them to play V5 in round 4.
On the other side of the post-season bracket, JD Gaming began their LPL Spring Playoffs run in round 3 against Weibo Gaming. Weibo Gaming had triumphed over defending world champion EDward Gaming in round 2 after EDG had eliminated FunPlus Phoenix in round 1 of the post-season.
JDG beat WBG 3-2 to qualify for round 4 of the LPL Spring Playoffs, where they were slated to face off against Royal Never Give Up.
Top Esports began round 4 of the LPL Spring Playoffs in incredible fashion, upsetting 1st seed Victory Five with a miraculous reverse sweep. The following day, Royal Never Give Up triumphed over JD Gaming in another five-game showdown.
As a result of the round 4 matches, TES and RNG will face off in the semifinals to see who qualifies for the finals of the 2022 LPL Spring Playoffs without losing a match. The loser of that match will face off against the winner of V5 and JDG to see who meets the only undefeated team left in the finals.
