Fnatic have G2 Esports 3-1 in the first round of the 2022 LEC Spring Playoffs. Fnatic will move onto the second round of the post-season upper bracket and will play next against Rogue, who defeated Misfits 3-1 yesterday.
Fnatic gained a quick victory in Game 1, highlighted by Fnatic's excellent team fighting ability. Elias "Upset" Lipp and Marek "Humanoid" Brázda had especially strong games — both going deathless throughout the match. Humanoid in particular was noted for his excellent performance on LeBlanc — a champion that G2 mid laner Rasmus "caPs" Borregaard Winther was not able to counter with his Lissandra pick.
G2 responded in kind with a dominant game of their own and quickly brought the game record to 1-1. Sergen "Broken Blade" Çelik was without a doubt the strongest win factor of the game — showing off a strong laning phase against Martin "Wunder" Nordahl Hansen, and translating that into strong team fight contributions for G2.
The pendulum swung back into Fnatic's favor in Game 3, with the team showing off a very methodical style that ended with another G2 loss. Most notable was their very strong control of neutral objectives, as well as excellent overall pressure from Zdravets "Hylissang" Iliev Galabov and Iván "Razork" Martín Díaz — both players at the top of kill participation for the game. The game was a blood bath, with thirty-three kills throughout the thirty-five minute game.
Though the final match was the closest of the games in the series — neck-and-neck until the very end — the stronger experience of Fnatic prevailed in the end, with them winning several key team fights and neutral objectives to secure the series. As Fnatic continues in the upper bracket in the 2022 LEC Spring Playoffs, Fnatic goes onto the Round 1 Lower Seed. G2's next opponent will be the winner of Excel Esports and Team Vitality, who play on Sunday with post-season elimination on the line. If they win, they will compete against Misfits to continue their playoff pursuits.
