UPDATE Mar. 19: As the result of an impressive 2-0 win over DWG KIA, Fredit BRION have become the fifth team to qualify for the 2022 LCK Spring Playoffs.
Original story:
There is only one week left in the 2022 LCK Spring Split, and four of the six playoff spots have already been filled.
The four teams who have already qualified for the 2022 LCK Spring Playoffs are T1, Gen.G, DRX, and DWG KIA. T1 are in first place and have yet to lose a game this season, while Gen.G have maintained a top 2 placing despite COVID-19 sidelining members of their roster. DRX are one game ahead of DWG KIA.
On the opposite side of the standings, three teams have already been mathematically eliminated from playoffs contention: Nongshim RedForce (4-12), Liiv SANDBOX (4-12) and Hanwha Life Esports (3-13).
Three teams will spend week 9 of the 2022 LCK Spring Split contending for the last two post-season spots: Fredit BRION, KT Rolster, and Kwangdong Freecs. Fredit BRION (7-9) are in 5th place and while KT Rolster and Kwangdong Freecs are both 6-10, KT's 16-21 game score puts them in 6th place above the 15-21 KDF. All 10 teams in the LCK have reported no roster changes ahead of the final week of the Spring Split, so all teams will be at full strength for the split's conclusion.
BRO, KT, and KDF don't play each other in week 9 of the Spring Split, but there is a clear difference in each's team's strength of schedule this week. BRO have the toughest schedule with two matches against Gen.G and DWG KIA, while KT Rolster have two very different strengths of opponents against Nongshim RedForce and Gen.G. KDF have the easiest schedule in rounding out the LCK Spring Split with matches against Hanwha Life Esports and Liiv SANDBOX.
