The Streamer Awards took place this past weekend. The brand new event was created and funded almost entirely by streamer QT Cinderella and ended up topping 380,000 live viewers, a very impressive showing for the new award show. The awards recognized excellence in 27 categories of streaming, with huge names like Ludwig, Pokimane, Hasan, xQc, and more being nominated for various awards, and fans voting on who will win.

Asmongold has had a hell of a year, despite facing some serious hardships and challenges in his personal life with the death of his mother, for who he was the caretaker. mang0 won the best Super Smash Bros. streamer award, but it was his friend and rival Hungrybox who accepted it for him, as mang0 wasn't able to attend the ceremony. Hungrybox took the opportunity to roast Nintendo for their failure to support Smash esports and even poked fun at Mang0 too.

Ludwig shot to the top of the stream charts in 2021, quite literally. He is the most subscribed to Twitch streamer of all time, following a 31-day uncapped subathon that went viral last year. He has since been poached away from Twitch to YouTube Gaming, so on a technicality, a YouTube streamer won streamer of the year.
