Activision Blizzard became the latest gaming company to suspend sales in Russia on Friday in response to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. The company announced the decision in a message from the President and COO of the company Daniel Alegre to ABK employees.

"Today, we are announcing that Activision Blizzard will be suspending new sales of and in our games in Russia while this conflict continues," Alegre stated. "We will continue to look at ways to support the Ukrainian people. I want to reassure you that the safety of our employees is our leadership team’s top priority We are doing everything possible to assist employees, and their families, who are being directly affected by this tragedy."

Additionally ABK announced they will match employee donations 2:1 to organizations providing relief from the war, claiming to have already raised $300,000 in relief funds for Ukraine. Alegre also praised ABK employees in Poland who have provided support and shelter for Ukrainian people fleeing the warzone.

Alegre concluded: "I’d also like to applaud the tremendous contributions from our colleagues in Poland, where people have volunteered their time to assist Ukrainian refugees and others in need. We continue to work with them to find ways we can further assist this effort. We stand with the Ukrainian people and will provide updates on any new actions we take as this crisis continues to unfold."

The ABK's announcement follows similar announcements from EA, Microsoft, and CD Projekt Red who all halted sales of their products to customers in Russia and Belarus this week to protest Russias unprovoked aggression against Ukraine. Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24th and has continued to escalate its aggression over the past ten days, including reports of its military bombing civilian areas and attacking a nuclear powerplant this week.
