The numbers of the GOAT: the LCK stats that Faker leads (and the stats he doesn't)

The unkillable demon king recently surpassed Go “Score” Dong-bin in career assists, placing himself second on the leaderboard, just behind Kang “GorillA” Beom-hyeon. And if Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok continues to play for a few more years, he might surpass him as well. Seeing Faker getting on top of all kinds of records made me wonder, what records does Faker not lead?

To discuss what records the GOAT doesn’t hold, we need to see what kind of records Faker is on top of. Kills (obviously), wins, championships… Whatever positive stat there is, it’s likely that Faker is first in it.

Stats that Faker DOES lead

Games played: 696

Wins: 457

This year is Faker’s 10th year as a professional League of Legends player. Over the 10 years, he has played in 696 games and won 461 of them (66.2% win rate). These numbers put him on top of games played and wins in LCK history. In these two categories, Faker’s old schoolmate, Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu follows with 577 games and 346 wins.

Kills: 2,464

Deaths: 1,418

Solo kills: 173

Since Faker has played in the most games, he has collected the most kills as well. On the downside, Faker has the most deaths too. Deft is also the runner-up in kills with 1,978 kills. The player with the second most deaths is Kang “GorillA” Beom-hyeon, who has fallen 1,258 times on the Rift.

Faker has also collected the most solo kills in the LCK but in this category, Kim “Rascal” Kwang-hee has been rising rapidly. Rascal has 127 solo kills on record up to now, and he’s been collecting more with every game this season.

Championships (among players): 9
LCK Finals (among players): 11

One of the reasons we know Faker as the GOAT is the number of championships he has taken. Throughout his career, Faker has won nine LCK championships in 11 Finals appearances, the most among all players.

Number of champions played: 70

By picking Vex and Tryndamere this season, Faker has played 70 champions on record in the LCK. This is the most champions played by a large margin — Song “Smeb” Kyung-ho and Lee “CuVee” Seong-jin are tied at 2nd with 53 champions played each.

Stats that Faker does NOT lead

Championships (in general): kkOma (10 vs. Faker's 9)

Faker has the most LCK championships out of all players, but if you include the coaching staff, Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun is in the lead with 10. His first eight championships were with Faker, but after leaving T1, kkOma won two more championships coaching DWG KIA to take first place.

Second places: Score (4 vs. Faker's 2)

When Faker makes an LCK final, he rarely loses, so the "winner" of this category is someone else. While Faker has lost only two of the finals he’s been to, Score has been to five LCK finals and won only one of them. With 4, Score has the most runner-up finishes in the LCK.

Win rate: Bengi (72.1% vs. Faker's 66.2%)

It would seem with all his game played, Faker would have the highest win rate too, but that's not the case. Among the players that have played at least 20 games, Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong is in first with 124 wins in 172 games — a whopping 72.1% win rate, ahead of Faker’s 66.2%.

Losses: CuVee (239 to Faker's 235)

This is one of the more unfortunate records a player could hold, but Faker is still second in this one, despite the absurd amount of gamers on record. The unwanted #1 goes to CuVee, who's lost 239 of his 466 games (48.7% win rate). However, Faker isn't far behind CuVee. With 235 losses.

One of the unfortunate records is how many times a player lost. Despite the many games played, Faker does not have the most losses. This title goes to CuVee, who has played in 466 games and lost 239. However, Faker is right behind CuVee with 235 losses. Surpassing CuVee, however, is just a matter of time: CuVee is no longer an active player and it's unlikely Faker retires before he scores another five losses... right?

Pentakills: Ruler (5 vs. Faker's 1)

In his career, Faker has recorded only one pentakill, back in 2015. He almost got his second pentakill recently, which was unfortunately denied by his own jungler. As for the player with the most pentakills in the LCK, that's Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk with a total of five in his career. In 2020, Ruler even recorded three pentakills in a single season. In the same season, Lee “HyBriD” Woo-jin also earned three pentakills. Then, if one is to include Challengers Korea, the leader changes to Na “Pilot” Woo-hyeong with six.

Average CS: Teddy (374.1 vs. Faker's 316.8)

Since most of the cumulative stats are led by Faker, I needed to look up average stats as well. In Summoner’s Rift, collecting higher CS is quite to get ahead. In this category, the CS god, Park “Teddy” Jin-seong is the leader. Among the players with 100+ games, Teddy collected the most CS per game with 374.1 against Faker’s record of 316.8 CS per game on average. Teddy is also the leader of most CS collected in a single game in the history of LoL esports with 1,465: a record he set playing against, you guessed it, Faker.
