The LEC is going to be joined by a familiar face starting this weekend: host Eefje "Sjokz" Depoortere has announced that she is returning to the broadcast.
Sjokz, who has worked as a freelancer for the European League of Legends broadcast for the better part of a decade, had been absent from the show for two reasons. In the first week, she deliberately took a step back from her esports endeavors as she was processing the unexpected passing of her mother. In the subsequent week, however, Sjokz revealed that she had not yet been able to find a contractual agreement with the LEC.
On Jan. 27, Sjokz shed light on the situation via Twitter. "My team and I have not yet found a mutually acceptable agreement with Riot," she said, "We are hopeful we can find common ground soon so I can appear back on the show." She added, "At the end of the day, it's business. But on a personal level I was really looking forward to hosting and having a sense of normalcy return to my life."
Sjokz received widespread support for her situation, with many hoping for her swift return to the broadcast. LEC analyst and color caster Marc "Caedrel" Lamont said, "LEC without Sjokz would never feel right. I hope this gets resolved ASAP." Play-by-play caster Aaron "Medic" Chamberlain added, "I can't imagine an LEC without Sjokz. Having felt the frustration of negotiations myself, I hope things can be resolved soon."
Now that Sjokz is returning, the LEC has all of its announced main members of the broadcast back on the screen.
