Team Liquid has entered the MMO world with the acquisition of Limit Guild.
Limit Guild, led by Max "Maximum" Smith, is one of the most popular raiding guilds. They are seen as icons in the World of Warcraft community, even achieving Worlds Firsts in Castle Nathria and Ny'alotha raids. This is a major move for Team Liquid as the organization looks into MMOs for the first time.
Limit Guild has 40 members, including players, coaches, and staff. Maximum will become a minority owner in Team Liquid, overseeing how the organization approaches MMOs. Azorea has joined as the MMO General Manager. With this massive update, Team Liquid is looking forward to hosting all the raiders in another upcoming Race to World First with Limit Guild retiring their branding to take on the Liquid brand.
"The acquisition of Limit Guild forms a major pillar of Liquid MMO: a new gaming vertical within Team Liquid that will tackle one of the world’s most popular genres — massively multiplayer online role-playing games," Team Liquid said. "From the mythical regions of Azeroth, to the boundless wonder of Eorzea, Team Liquid is going all-in on MMOs with investments in players, content creators, staff, and more. Our design philosophy for Liquid MMO is inspired by fantasy worlds, incorporating elements that might be found in the skylights of The Crystarium or the gates of Silvermoon."
According to Team Liquid's official statement, this is only the beginning when it comes to MMOs.
Omeed "Atlas" Atlaschi said he was "thrilled" to be part of Team Liquid and is exciting to become the "best raiding guild" in WoW. Kevin "Thdlock" Arean echoed the same sentiment, stating that he is excited about being part of Team Liquid and represent its brand. Kevin "Atrocity" Bannick added that the squad was "swayed" by Team Liquid's mentality and how the organization truly cares about winning.
