On Nov 23, DWG KIA announced the return of Lee “Zefa” Jae-min as a coach for their League of Legends roster. Through their official facebook, DWG KIA commented, “Please expect great things from us, as we are joined by Coach Zefa for the 2022 season”.
Zefa first debuted in the scene as a player in 2013, transitioning into a coaching role in 2016. From Kongdoo Monster, Afreeca Freecs, SKT T1 [now known as T1] to DWG KIA in 2019, he won the World Championship with DWG KIA in 2020. He then rejoined T1 with Yang “Daeny” Dae-in in 2020, only to have their contracts terminated during the Summer split of 2021. Since then, he took a break from the scene, while Daeny rejoined DWG KIA as an analyst for the team after his release from T1.
DWG KIA finished 2nd place at Worlds 2021, and their 2022 player roster is yet to be finalized. It’ll be curious to see whether DWG KIA will be able to succeed with the coaching staff that once led the team to championship victory can do it again in 2022.
