UPDATE Nov. 12: Cloud9 has confirmed that the organization has parted ways with mid laner Luka "Perkz" Perković following reports of the mid laner desiring to return to Europe for the 2022 season. C9 made the split public at 12pm PT on Friday, November 12 via the organization's official Twitter account.

Reports point towards Perkz joining Team Vitality for the 2022 LEC season alongside reported acquisitions of MAD Lions AD carry Matyáš "Carzzy" Orság and Team Liquid top laner Barney "Alphari" Morris.

Recently, Fnatic filed a complaint regarding a clause in the contract drawn up for Cloud9's buyout of Perkz from G2 Esports in December 2020 that bars Perkz from joining Fnatic through 2023. Riot Games' global investigation found no evidence of collusion.

According to a report by Dot Esports, Cloud9 have made the decision to make Luka "Perkz" Perković available for buyout. Perkz has informed the organization that he did not intend to play with them in 2022 because of family reasons, the report states, which would end his stint after just one year.

Where Perkz will end up is unknown. Several organizations in both North America and Europe are reportedly interested in pursuing the player. Perkz himself has stated his desire to colleagues of his wish to build a team this offseason, seeking a franchise capable of funding this venture.

Perkz signed with Cloud9 in late 2020, after the organization arranged a multi-million dollar buyout from G2 Esports. At the beginning of 2021, Cloud9 enjoyed success, winning the LCS Spring 2021 Mid-Season Showdown and qualifying for the Mid-Season Invitational. However, results somewhat faltered from there. Cloud9 exited MSI with a disappointing fifth-place finish and finished only third at the 2021 LCS Summer Championship. Most recently, Cloud9 reached the top 8 of Worlds 2021 after a rallying performance that reversed a 0-3 start to the group stage, but faced a one-sided elimination by Gen.G in quarterfinals.

Perkz remains one of the most decorated players in League of Legends history. Domestically, he has won one LCS Championship and nine LEC/EU LCS Championships. Internationally, he has placed second at the 2019 World Championship and first at the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational.
