Update 10/13/2021: Riot has now confirmed that they will be postponing all the matches for Thursday while they work toward solutions to the many issues that have plagued the tournament so far. We will continue to update this article as we learn more information about Riots plans for the NA LCQ.

Original Article: Riot Games announced they are suspending the second day of competition for the North American Last Chance Qualifier, following conflicting COVID-19 test results among multiple teams attending the event. The matches will remain paused until further notice.

"The health and safety of all involved with LCQ is our greatest priority," Chris Greeley, Head of Esports for NA and OCE at Riot Games said in a statement. "All players and staff participating in LCQ have been — and continue to be — tested for COVID-19 per Riot Games and LA County health guidelines for in-person events. After receiving several conflicts test results, in an abundance of caution, we have decided to pause the competition for today while we evaluate how to safely resume the LCQ."

The decision follows multiple members of FaZe Clan and at least one member of RISE testing positive and then subsequently tested negative for COVID-19 on Wednesday, forcing them into quarantine and away from the LCQ stage. While the players are claiming these were false-positive tests, due to the following negative tests, the conflict has left Riot Games in a difficult position as we move forward with what we meant to be an in-person event. 

While Riot Games already moved the tournament from LAN during the first day of competition, in case of quarantine did occur, not all teams have access to the same equipment or internet from quarantine in LA County, since some teams are based in LA while others had to travel in. This is one of the many issues Riot will have to address when/if this tournament resumes in a mixed in-person and online setting.

It is unclear how Riot will proceed with the LCQ, we will keep you updated as we learn more information.
