Group D of the 2021 League of Legends World Championship has gotten off to a rousing start. The four teams in the group — League of Legends European Championship #1 seed MAD Lions, League of Legends Champions Korea #2 seed Gen.G, League Championship Series #2 seed Team Liquid, and League of Legends Professional League #4 seed LNG Esports — are all 1-1 after two days of group stage play, and MAD is set to face off against LNG in both teams' final match of the first round-robin.
After MAD Lions epic, tense win over Gen.G on day 2 of the Worlds 2021 group stage, MAD jungler Javier "Elyoya" Prades Batalla joined Laure Valée for a post-game broadcast interview. When asked for his thoughts on MAD's next match against LNG Esports and going head-to-head against the likes of LNG's jungler Lee "Tarzan" Seung-yong, Elyoya cracked a smile.
"I'm really excited to play Tarzan because he's the one I've learned from the most," Elyoya said, barely able to contain his excitement. "I just hope it's fun."
Elyoya has been one of the most electrifying rookies in any region this year, and Tarzan's return to the Worlds stage for the first time in two years has been choc-full of incredible performances from the LNG jungler in the 2021 LPL season. Following MAD Lions' win over Gen.G, LNG Esports handed Team Liquid its first loss of Group D, and following the match, Valée asked Tarzan about his thoughts on facing Elyoya and MAD Lions tomorrow as well.
Tarzan paid respect to the MAD jungler but was relatively aloof in terms of what the matchup meant to him personally. "I also saw an interview that he wants to face me," Tarzan said in reference to Valées previous broadcast spot with Elyoya. "Honestly, it's just one of the games that I'm going to play. I think it's going to be a very exciting one because he's a great jungler." MAD and LNG face off tomorrow in the second match of day 3 of the Worlds 2021 group stage.
