The North American favorites, Sentinels, were eliminated from the VCT Masters Berlin major on Friday by fellow NA team Envy in a 2-0 match. Sentinels were the heavy favorites to win the Berlin major after they won the Masters 2 Reykjavik major in undefeated fashion earlier this year. On Friday, Envy dethroned Sentinels convincingly, and after the win tweeted "It's the start of a new era in NA."

Envy felt well ahead during most of the match, both strategically and mechanically. Yay, Crashies, Victor, and Marved all showed off some very impressive, highlight-worthy plays to clutch out a number of key rounds. The first map went to overtime, ending with 15-13 Envy win, while the second map was a 13-7 Envy win. 

Despite the disappointing scorelines for Sentinels, it can't be said that Tenz didn't try. He carried his team back into contention in the first map, forcing overtime in a very impressive display of skill. But one good performance wasn't enough to win in the end.

The NA region has shown an early dominance in VALORANT ever since the first International LAN in Iceland earlier this year. That LAN was won by Sentinels, without the team dropping a match.  Sentinels was a top contender at Berlin as well, though they did take their first international loss to their new rival G2 Esports, showing that they do indeed bleed. 

But in Friday's match, Envy made them look weak as they threw them from the throne. 

Berlin Masters is Envy's first time attending an international LAN in VALORANT, and so far they have not missed a beat, winning Group B convincingly before advancing past Sentinels in the quarterfinals.

Envy will face off against NA's 100 Thieves in the semifinals on Saturday, after 100T defeated EMEA's Acend in the quarterfinals on Friday. Unfortunately for NA fans, all three NA teams ended up on the same side of the bracket, so only one NA team will be featured in the finals.
