The Blizzard eStadium will be the name for Blizzard’s First esports stadium

On March 30th, Blizzard officially opened its first stadium dedicated to esports in the capital city of Taiwan. Blizzard will now host Overwatch tournaments in the brand new esports venue.

Michael Morhaime, co-founder and CEO at Blizzard, presented himself at the opening ceremony and gave a speech about the reason Blizzard decided to open its first esports stadium in Taiwan and about Asia’s significance in competitive gaming.

As one of the leading countries in global competitive gaming, Taiwan will be the place for Blizzard’s first esports stadium, Morhaime mentioned.

The stadium will be hosting local and international esports for Blizzard’s games, with the first one being the Overwatch Pacific Championship on April 8th. Eight teams from Australia, Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand will be competing against each other in the venue to reach the top.

Starting from Overwatch, the Blizzard eStadium will hopefully become the venue for other competitive games of Blizzard’s, like Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm. Fans in Taiwan are very hyped about the new esports venue and are anxious to see the pros playing their favorite Blizzard games in person.
