Fnatic has eliminated Team Vitality from the 2021 League of Legends European Championship Summer Playoffs in the first round of the lower bracket. VIT's 2021 season has come to an end, while Fnatic's post-season will continue in the lower bracket with a match against Misfits next week.

As the 5th and 6th seed, Fnatic and Team Vitality entered the LEC Summer Playoffs without the privilege of double elimination due to being directly seeded into the lower bracket. Fnatic possessed a top spot in the standings throughout the Summer Split, but lost four of its last five games and ended the season in 5th place.

VIT's qualification, on the other hand, came down to the result very last game of the Summer Split due to the microscopic degrees of separation between Team Vitality, Excel Esports, and Astralis that remained microscopic through the last day of the split. When Vitality took Fnatic to game 5 in today's series, it looked as though the stars would continue to align for the French side, but it was Fnatic who ultimately took the win in game 5 and the series.

Fnatic's next match will be against Misfits, who lost to Rogue in the first round of the upper bracket, and should it defeat MSF, Fnatic will play against G2 Esports, who lost to MAD Lions 3-1 on the other side of the upper bracket in round 1.

RGE and MAD's victories locked both teams in for two of the three European representative seeds for the 2021 World Championship, which means that Fnatic, Misfits and G2 Esports will be contesting not just for the LEC title, but the last Worlds seed. Whoever wins the lower bracket match that features G2 Esports will be the 3rd team representing the LEC at Worlds 2021. 

The winner of the match between Rogue and MAD Lions in the upper bracket will guarantee at least a top 2 Worlds seed. The loser will drop down to the lower bracket to play the victor of the match featuring G2 for a shot at taking down the only undefeated team in the final of the 2021 LEC Summer Playoffs.
