UPDATE 9/2: EDward Gaming has defeated FunPlus Phoenix 3-1 in the finals of the 2021 League of Legends Professional League Summer Playoffs, securing China's #1 representative seed at the World Championship this fall in the process. FPX will have to settle for the #2 seed after becoming the final team eliminated from the post-season. While the top 2 LPL seeds for Worlds 2021 have been locked in, the #3 and #4 seeds will be decided in the coming days via the LPL Regional Final.

UPDATE 8/29: Team WE has been eliminated from the 2021 LPL Summer Playoffs in a 3-0 sweep at the hands of EDward Gaming. As the eighth team eliminated from the post-season, Team WE will have to settle for 3rd place in the post-season, while EDG will move on to the finals to face the undefeated FunPlus Phoenix.

Team WE will still have a chance to qualify for the 2021 World Championship as either the 3rd or 4th representative seed for the LPL via the Regional Finals, which takes place after the conclusion of the Summer Playoffs. Team WE will face off against spring champion Royal Never Give Up, while LNG will take on Rare Atom on the other side of the bracket. The winners of the two matches will both qualify for Worlds 2021 and play against one another for the 3rd LPL seed.

UPDATE 8/26: LNG Esports has been eliminated from the 2021 LPL Summer Playoffs. LNG exceeded post-season expectations by upsetting spring champion Royal Never Give Up, but after a 3-0 upper bracket loss to FunPlus Phoenix and a subsequent 3-1 lower bracket to EDward Gaming, LNG had to settle for a top 4 finish in elimination from the LPL Summer Playoffs.

FPX, EDG and Team WE, the latter of whom defeated EDward Gaming 3-2 on the other side of the upper bracket which resulted in its matchup against LNG, are the only three teams left in the post-season.

LNG was the 7th team eliminated from the 2021 LPL Summer Playoffs, but that doesn't mean its 2021 season is over. Alongside Rare Atom and RNG, LNG will fight for a top 2 finish in the LPL Regional Final following the conclusion of the Summer Playoffs to see which teams secure the 3rd and 4th spots to represent the LPL at the World Championship this fall.

UPDATE 8/20: One day after LNG eliminated Royal Never Give Up from the 2021 LPL Summer Playoffs in a 3-1 upset, Rare Atom faced off against Team WE on the other side of the post-season bracket. Despite being the higher-seeded team in the matchup, RA fell behind 2-0, but stormed back from a Team WE match point to force a game 5. Ultimately, it was Team WE who won the series 3-2, and Rare Atom was eliminated from the post-season. 

Rare Atom is the sixth team to be eliminated from the 2021 LPL Summer Playoffs following the respective eliminations of Royal Never Give Up, Bilibili Gaming, Top Esports, Oh My God, and Suning. However, its 2021 season is not over. RA has enough championship points to guarantee a spot in the 2021 LPL Regional Final, a gauntlet-style tournament to secure the final seed to represent the hosting country of China in the 2021 World Championship.

The four teams remaining in the post-season are Team WE, LNG, EDward Gaming and FunPlus Phoenix. Depending on who wins the 2021 LPL Summer Playoffs and subsequently qualifies for Worlds as China's 1st seed, RNG will qualify as the region's 2nd seed or be placed in the LPL Regional Final with Rare Atom and two other teams to see who qualifies as the LPL's 3rd seed. 

UPDATE 8/19: Mid-Season Invitational 2021 champion Royal Never Give Up has been eliminated from the 2021 LPL Summer Playoffs. RNG was eliminated 3-1 at the hands of a surging LNG, and while RNG will no longer be able to defend its spring title, it still has a chance to qualify for the 2021 World Championship due to its amount of championship points guaranteeing the squad a spot in the LPL Regional Final. 

RNG is the fifth team to be eliminated from the 2021 LPL Summer Playoffs following the respective eliminations of Bilibili Gaming, Top Esports, Oh My God, and Suning.

Bilibili Gaming has been eliminated from the 2021 League of Legends Professional League Summer Playoffs in a 3-0 clean sweep at the hands of Team WE. BLG is the fourth team to be eliminated from the post-season after Top Esports, Oh My God and Suning.

Because Bilibili Gaming finished in 6th place in the 2021 LPL Summer Split, it was awarded a first round bye in the Summer Playoffs. In round 1, while LNG eliminated Worlds 2020 finalist Suning on the opposite side of the bracket, Team WE dispatched of Oh My God to meet BLG as its round 2 opponent. In round 2, LNG eliminated Top Esports 3-1, and the next day, Bilibili Gaming found itself swept out of the bracket by a razor-sharp Team WE.

BLG missed the LPL Spring Playoffs entirely this season, and with only the 10 championship points due to its round 2 appearance in the Summer Playoffs, the squad does not possess the amount of championship points required to secure a spot in the 2021 LPL Regional Final. As a result, Bilibili Gaming's 2021 season has come to an end.

With 17 teams, one of them being the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational champion in Royal Never Give Up, the LPL is stacked with teams in quality and quantity. Based on the results of the Spring Playoffs and Summer Playoffs, only the top six teams currently left in the post-season are mathematically eligible in terms of championship points to qualify for the 2021 World Championship.

Round 3 of the 2021 LPL Summer Playoffs will happen next, with Team WE vs Rare Atom on one side of the bracket and LNG vs RNG on the other side of the bracket. The losers of each match will be eliminated, with the winner of LNG vs RNG facing off against FunPlus Phoenix and the winner of WE vs RA up against EDward Gaming.

The winners of those two matches will then play each other to see who will head to the finals of the 2021 LPL Summer Playoffs undefeated. The losers of those two matches will drop down to the lower bracket and play whoever loses the upper bracket semifinal match to see who will meet the only undefeated team in the finals from the lower bracket. 

The LPL has four regional seeds to represent China at Worlds 2021, an event which will take place entirely in China. The 1st LPL seed is the winner of the 2021 LPL Summer Playoffs, with the 2nd seed going to whichever of the 16 non-champion LPL teams has the most championship points. The other four teams will be seeded intothe LPL Regional Final in order of championship points from lowest to highest to see who secures the 3rd and 4th seeds; the last match is solely for seeding.
