Riot announced on Tuesday that they have issued suspensions for GermsSG, DreamCSGO, and the rest of the former 2020 Resurgence roster after an investigation revealed that the former teammates engaged in one of VALORANT's first match-fixing scandals last year.

According to Riot’s investigation, Malcolm “Germsg” Chung and Ryan “Dreamycsgo” Tan worked together to place bets against Resurgence, their own team. Germsg attempted to get the rest of the roster on board with his scheme, but they reportedly did not want to throw the match. Nonetheless, they concealed the issue from both Resurgence management and Riot Games, fearing repercussions to their careers.

Unsurprisingly, the match resulted in a win for their opponent BlackBird Ignis. According to Riot, after the match, Germsg offered to pay off the rest of the roster, but they refused and eventually disbanded.

Germsg and Dreamycsgo both received 36-month bans from VCT competition due to their violation of both Rule 7.2.1 and 7.2.4. So they will not be able to compete in VALORANT esports until April 2024. 

The remainder of the Resurgence former roster also received penalties "based on the level of culpability and their cooperation with the VALORANT esports investigation."

Justin "Boplek" Wong Chong Cheng and Sengdala "Jabtheboy" Jamnalong both received a year-long suspension, while Du Min "Mortdecai" Yeo and Benedict "Benaf" Tan received 6-month suspensions.
