Legendary support, Mata to perform his military service in the police

 

Legendary support, Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong will be performing his compulsory military service starting June 10. Mata announced through his Instagram account that he’ll be joining the police for his military service. 

 

In South Korea, all males have to perform compulsory military service. Players such as Yoo "Ryu" Sang-wook, Go "Score" Dong-bin, etc. are currently enlisted in the Army. Kang "Cpt Jack" Hyung-woo had recently completed his military service.

 

Mata led MVP Ozone’s championship back in 2013 and Samsung White’s world championship in 2014. He is known as one of the best support players ever who established the way of playing the support role. Mata headed to the LPL after his world championship and became the 2016 LPL Spring champion with Royal Never Give Up.

 

After returning from the LPL, Mata played in kt Rolster and SK Telecom T1, and won two more LCK titles in 2018 and 2019. He then went back to Royal Never Give Up as the head coach in 2020.

 

Mata had been on a break since he returned from Royal Never Give Up. Starting today, for 18 months, Mata will be serving the country.
