Riot Game has officially confirmed that VALORANT Mobile, a mobile version of Riot's popular tactical shooter, is in development and will be coming to mobile devices in the near future!
"Concurrently, VALORANT today announced that an average of more than 14 million PC players from around the world log on each month to play," Riot stated in a press release on Wednesday. "Over the game’s first year, VALORANT players competed in over half a billion games of the team-based shooter. With enthusiasm for VALORANT only continuing to grow, Riot now is preparing to expand the franchise - starting with VALORANT Mobile - in order to bring VALORANT to more players around the world."
Riot did not elaborate on any details regarding the new mobile game, beyond the official announcement that it is happening. Presumably It will be a similar, if slightly modified, mobile experience of VALORANT's original desktop version. VALORANT Mobile will not be Riot's first foray into porting one of their games to mobile. League of Legends Wild Rift is a mobile version of League of Legends that Riot released in October of 2020. They have also released mobile versions of Legends of Runeterra and Teamfight Tactics over the past couple of years.
VALORANT Mobile will, however, be Riot's first attempt at bringing a shooter to mobile. Other mobile shooting titles like COD: Mobile, Fortnite Mobile, and PUBG Mobile have found prolific success globally in the past few years. PUBG, in particular, has found a very lucrative market in India and South Asia. Riot Games will be looking to grab a piece of that global mobile shooter market with this new title.
Riot is expected to reveal more details about the game soon.
