The Sentinels officially confirmed on Tuesday that they have signed Tyson "TenZ" Ngo to their VALORANT team. They reportedly paid a "seven-figure" buyout to Cloud9 to acquire the player, according to a report first delivered by Kevin Hitt at the Esports Observer.

Cloud9 CEO Jack Ettiene provided more context for the trade in a comment he made on Reddit.

"Hey to give some context to this deal, [it] was done before Iceland," Etienne explained. "It was a dangerous deal for us as we knew we would soon face Sentinels in the Iceland Qualifiers, however, It was important to Tyson to play and I wanted to make it happen for him. Best of luck to Tyson on Sentinels."

The Sentinel's trade announcement on Tuesday comes days after TenZ successfully topped both the total kills and K/D leaderboards at this past weekend's VCT Reyjkavik Masters 2 International LAN, which Sentinels won in flawless fashion. Following the impressive win, TenZ expressed that he was "praying" that he can remain with the team, and with today's deal his prayers have been answered.

TenZ first joined the roster as a temporary stand-in for Jay "sinatraa" Won, after sinatraa was suspended by both Sentinels and Riot Games while they investigated allegations of domestic abuse made against him. Riot has since levied an official six-month suspension on sinatraa, after the player refused to cooperate with their investigation, making plenty of room for TenZ to continue with the team on a long-term basis.
