Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng has signed with esports organization TSM for the third time since the start of his League of Legends career. Unlike his previous two stints with TSM, Doublelift will be streaming full-time following his retirement from competitive play at the end of the 2020 season.
Since his retirement, Doublelift has gone all-in on streaming, particularly as a partnered streamer for the 2021 League of Legends Championship Series Spring Split. Doublelift will not only watch matches live and provide his own commentary and analysis, but will occasionally have guests on like former professional AD carry Zachary "Sneaky" Scuderi or League of Legends European Championship analyst Marc "Caedrel" Lamont to add their insights and perspectives to his streams.
Doublelift first joined TSM for the 2016 NA LCS season and remained with the team for two years. Doublelift returned to TSM for his final competitive split last summer, securing one more domestic title and the 1st seed to the 2020 World Championship before hanging up the mouse and keyboard. Since the start of 2021, Doublelift has been streaming independently, but his familiarity with TSM makes it the obvious choice for a 'new' home if he is looking to sign with an organization.
TSM's announcement video of Doublelift joining as a streamer parodies its previous announcements of Doublelift joining its competitive League of Legends roster. In this iteration, TSM jungler Mingyi "Spica" Lu finds Doublelift in the trash, in a TSM jersey and ready to stream and create content for the organization with whom he won four of his eight LCS titles.
Retired or not, Doublelift is and wil continue to be one of the most prominent figures in the League of Legends esports and competitive gaming community, and re-signing with TSM in his newest career venture should only bolster his presence in the space.
