SK Gaming has announced its roster for the 2021 League of Legends European Championship season. SK Gaming has completely rebuilt its roster around top laner Janik "Jenax" Bartels, whose contract was extended through November 21, 2022 on October 14, 2021.

Former TSM support Erik "Treatz" Wessén will join SK Gaming former 1907 Fenerbahçe Esports mid laner Ersin "Blue" Gören. The two new players rounding out the roster — jungler Kristian "TynX"  Østergaard Hansen and AD carry Jean "Jezu" Massol — most recently competed in the European Regional Leagues with LDLC OL and Misfits Premier, respectively. The four players are all officially signed but pending Riot Games' approval before being allowed to compete in next year's LEC.

SK Gaming's announcement video featured five LEC-branded lottery tickets. By the end of the video, all five tickets have been partially scratched off to reveal the names of the SK starting five. 

In signing TynX, Blue, Jesu and Treatz, SK Gaming has parted ways with their respective predecessors Kim "Trick" Gang-yun, Dirk "ZaZee" Mallner, Juš "Crownshot" Marušič and  Dino "LIMIT" Tot. Most notably, Crownshot will be sought after on the free agent market after a strong 2020 season, and the reported signing of Martin "Rekkles" Larsson by G2 Esports leaves him as the only valuable European AD carry in the market aside from Elias "Upset" Lipp. 

As of now, SK Gaming's coaching staff has not changed. Jesse "Jesiz" Le remains as head coach, Paul "Kanani" Khouani continues to hold strategic coaching duties, and former SK Gaming support Petar "Unlimited" Georgiev rounds out the coaching staff for the 2021 LEC season. 

SK Gaming got off to a hot start in the 2020 LEC Summer Split, but faded upon heading into the post-season and settled for a 9-9 6th place finish. In the 2020 LEC Summer Playoffs, SK Gaming faced off against FC Schalke 04 Esports in a do-or-die match, but found itself swept away by the surging tide of royal blue. Nonetheless, it was the first time SK Gaming had qualified for the post-season since the spring of 2019 and was an undeniable improvement from the team's spring performance.
