UPDATED 11/3: Hours after signing General Sniper, Cloud9 has terminated the contract with its newest streamer due to rules for organizations that compete in the League of Legends Championship Series. In a statement to Inven Global, Cloud9 explained: "Riot Games has made C9 aware that because of the talent's age, he will no longer be able to stream for the org."
C9 has since deleted its announcement Tweet, and General Sniper has confirmed the contract's termination via Twitter. Since General Sniper is only 14 years old, he will not be able to stream for Cloud9 or any other organization in the LCS until he turns 15.
Cloud9 has signed General Sniper, younger brother of Dignitas top laner Omran "V1per" Shoura, as a streamer. General Sniper first hit challenger at age 13 maining Riven just like V1per, and has also become known throughout the North American solo queue ladder for his Irelia.
Little is known about General Sniper aside from him being V1per's brother, but his impressive solo queue talent and his age has had him in the conversation of North America's hopes for tomorrow in terms of domestic talent for the past few years. General Sniper has consistently maintained his position in Challenger and is currently on a 27-game winstreak in duo queuing with V1per this off-season. General Sniper also won Twitch Rivals as part of a team led by Tyler "tyler1" Steinkamp.
For those who have followed General Sniper and have looked forward to his competitive career, a streaming position may be an initial disappointment. However, it's important to remember that V1per followed a similar path to pro in the League of Legends Championship Series.
V1per was a streamer when he was signed to Team Liquid in 2016, and in 2018, he became the starting top laner of TL Academy and attended the 2018 Mid-Season Invitational and 2018 World Championship as the main squad's substitute. V1per earned Rookie of the Split honors in his first LCS split with FlyQuest in the spring of 2019, and most recently, played for Dignitas in the 2020 LCS Summer Split.
General Sniper has mirrored the first step of V1per's career by signing with a top North American organization as a streamer, but if his aspirations are anything like his brother's, expect streaming with Cloud9 to be part of a much bigger journey for the young top laner.
