UPDATE 11/6: 100 Thieves has confirmed its acquisition of a franchise spot in the Call of Duty League and the founding of its team Los Angeles Thieves. The LA Thieves now has its own Twitter account which was used to announce the team with an accompanying video.

According to a report by Dexerto's Albert Petrosyan, 100 Thieves is making its return to the competitive Call of Duty scene. The organization is reportedly purchasing the spot in the 2021 Call of Duty League that was occupied by Immortals Gaming Club franchise OpTic Gaming Los Angeles in the inaugural Call of Duty League season. The report also states that 100 Thieves will be rebranding the team to Los Angeles Thieves for the next CDL season. 

The report also mentions what is expected to be the starting roster for 100 Thieves in the 2021 CDL. Since the starting number of players for competitive rosters has been cut from five to four, the expected starters for the LA Thieves are Austin "SlasheR" Liddicoat, Kenny "Kuavo" Williams, Thomas "TJHaLy" Haly, and Zack "Drazah" Jordan. Three of the four players spent the entirety of CDL 2020 on OpTic Gaming LA, Drazah joined in July. 

100 Thieves was a fan favorite in the CoD esports scene and Matthew "Nadeshot" Haig's announcement that his organization would not be participating in the globally franchised Call of Duty League was met with overwhelming disappointment.

Like 100 Thieves, OpTic Gaming has been a legacy brand within the CoD space, but since the acquisition of parent company Infinite Esports & Entertainment by Immortals Gaming Club, criticisms of failing to retain the soul of the Greenwall brand that was cultivated by founder and former CEO Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez have been leveled towards Immortals throughout CDL 2020. 

H3CZ, currently Owner & CEO of NRG Esports, has re-acquired the OpTic Gaming brand as of October 2nd, but if Dexerto's report holds true, NRG assumedly decided to sell its Los Angeles-based CDL franchise in order to keep Chicago Huntsmen. OpTic Gaming LA finished just outside the top 4 of the 2020 Call of Duty League Championship. The Huntsmen finished 3rd and brought a $600,000 portion of the prize pool back to NRG Esports.
