Once again, Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in claims the prestigious League Championship Series MVP, beating out Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg, Robert "Blaber" Huang, and the rest of the NA talent. He helped lead Team Liquid to a first-place finish in the regular season, beating the org's all-time best record at 15-3 heading into playoffs, all while leading his rookie duo, Edward "Tactical" Ra, and helping turn the team around after a ninth-place spring finish.
Team Liquid later advanced to Worlds, and will be competing against TSM this weekend for a chance at the LCS Grand Finals against FlyQuest and a direct route to the Worlds Group Stage.
The following was provided to Inven Global as a press release.
Team Liquid’s support Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in first rose to prominence as an NA LCS bot laner in 2015, leaving Los Angeles the following year to compete in South Korea. His role swap to support proved to be a pivotal decision; CoreJJ was a World Championship runner-up in 2016, finally winning it all at Worlds 2017.
In 2019, CoreJJ returned to the LCS a world champion and quickly established himself as the league’s best support. That year, he won two LCS championships, the Spring Split MVP award and two inclusions on the LCS All-Pro 1st-Team.
After the Summer Split 2020, CoreJJ was once again named to the LCS All-Pro 1st-Team. By earning the Honda MVP for the Summer Split, CoreJJ is only the second LCS player to earn multiple LCS MVP titles in League history. Bjergsen, who came in second for 2020 Summer Split voting, has four LCS MVP titles.
In 2020 Summer Split voting, Team Liquid swept the categories of Coaching Staff of the Split, Rookie of the Year, and Honda MVP of the Split.
