Two splits in a row, FlyQuest have advanced to the League Championship Series Finals.
Last spring, they climbed through the lower bracket after losing early in their playoff run, but this Summer Split, FlyQuest lost just five games in their journey through the upper bracket and will play for the title and Worlds first seed next week against the winner between TSM and Team Liquid.
FlyQuest has had a relatively solid Summer Split as a whole, playing with two different rosters - one featuring current AD Carry, Jason "WildTurtle" Tran, and one with their Academy AD, Brandon "MasH" Phan. Following a slight dip in the midseason with MasH at the bottom lane, they swapped Turtle back in to finish out the season strong, and haven't let off the gas since.
The series started out with a 1-1, each team looking relatively even. FlyQuest won Game 3 and were poised to win Game 4 to finish out the series in a 3-1, but a string of late-game miracle plays from Rookie of the Year, Edward "Tactical" Ra, saved Team Liquid's chances, tying the series up and taking it to the Silver Scrapes game. Once again though, in Game 5, FlyQuest controlled the game better and claimed the victory and became the first team to advance to the Summer Finals.
Team Liquid will face TSM next weekend to determine the third seed. The loser of that series will find themselves in the Play-Ins at this year's World Championship, while the winner will auto-qualify for Groups and face FlyQuest on Sunday for a chance at the first seed. FlyQuest has now bypassed the Play-Ins, securing Groups for themselves in their first-ever Worlds appearance as an org.
