There are two days remaining in the 2020 League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split, and only one qualifying seed to the 2020 LCS Summer Playoffs is up for grabs. 100 Thieves qualified for the post-season yesterday, becoming the 7th team in the LCS to do so after Evil Geniuses, Golden Guardians, FlyQuest, TSM, Team Liquid, and Cloud9.
The three teams not qualified for the LCS Summer Playoffs — Counter Logic Gaming, Immortals, and Dignitas — have only one spot to fight over, and because of changes to the season format for the 2020 LCS that removed the LCS Regional Final, the two teams who fail to secure the post-season seed will see their seasons end with the Summer Split.
100 Thieves qualified for the Summer Playoffs last night after Dignitas lost to Cloud9 to start Week 9 of the Summer Split. Because Dignitas lost to C9, the best record the team can finish with is 5-13. 100 Thieves' worst-case scenario is a 6-12 record with a 0-2 this weekend, but even if Immortals can tie 100 and CLG can go 2-0 and finish 7-11, 100 Thieves would still secure at least the 8th seed for the Summer Playoffs.
100 Thieves' 2-0 head-to-head record against Immortals, 1-1 head-to-head record against Counter Logic Gaming, and Dignitas best potential record of 5-13, 100 Thieves would qualify for the post-season in any scenario. TL, C9, TSM, FLY, and GG have all locked in at least a top 6 seed; Evil Geniuses and 100 both have the opportunity to secure the final top bracket position.
100 Thieves plays against Dignitas in its first match of the final LCS Summer Split weekend, and if Dignitas is unable to achieve victory over 100, it will find itself as the first team in the LCS to have its 2020 season come to an end.
