SK Gaming has punched its ticket to the 2020 League of Legends European Championship Sumer Playoffs. In defeating Origen in its penultimate match of the 2020 LEC Summer Split, SK qualified for the post-season while simultaneously eliminating OG from contention.

SK Gaming had a chance to qualify for the Summer Playoffs one day prior when it faced off against G2 Esports. G2 won the match and became the third team to qualify for the post-season. SK, now the fourth, has once again tied G2 for 3rd place.

Despite the loss to G2, SK Gaming came out of the gate against Origen in impressive form, particularly Jungler Kim "Trick"  Gang-yun. On Sett, Trick did an excellent job of shutting down Origen Top Laner Barney "Alphari" Morris' Camille, and with OG's win condition in player and composition put behind immediately, it didn't take long for SK Gaming to shatter the OG nexus and qualify for the LEC Summer Playoffs.

Origen is the first team in the LEC to be eliminated from post-season contention, which comes as a shock considering its 13-5, 3rd place finish in the 2020 LEC Spring Split. Unfortunately for Origen, the circuit points system used in previous years has been retired from League of Legends esports. Without the LEC Regional Final as part of the 2020 season, the only way teams European can qualify for the 2020 World Championship is through the LEC Summer Playoffs. Origen's season is over.

SK Gaming has joined G2 Esports, Rogue, and MAD Lions in qualifying for the post-season, but no specific seeds have been locked for the 2020 LEC Summer Playoffs. MAD Lions, currently in 1st place with a 12-4 record, cannot finish below 2nd after its win yesterday over Misfits paired with Rogue's loss to Team Vitality.
