League of Legends European Championship Play-by-play Caster Aaron "Medic" Chamberlain will be taking the week off for week 7 of the 2020 LEC Summer Split. Medic announced he would be stepping off the broadcast for the LEC this week after being left physically and emotionally drained, and that Riot Games and the LEC was supporting him in his choice to return next week after fully processing and recharging his batteries.
While Medic did not state his reasoning for taking time off from the LEC broadcast, one can assume it is in relation to the NEOM partnership that was signed by the LEC earlier this week.
14 hours after the partnership was announced, the LEC terminated the agreement with NEOM following outcry from the community and vocalized disapproval from every on-camera personality on the LEC broadcast. Other LoL Esports figures and Rioters from around the world spoke out in support of the LEC crew in the time it took for the LEC to terminate the partnership.
Medic, who started his career casting Vainglory in 2016 and has been a part of the EU LCS/LEC broadcast since the summer of 2017, is a former doctor and can certainly be trusted to know when he needs a break for recovery. Nonetheless, his presence will be missed by the LEC viewers and his two fellow PBP casters Trevor "Quickshot" Henry and Daniel "Drakos" Drakos.
Week 7 of the 2020 LEC Summer Split kicks off on Friday, July 31 at 9:00am PT with FC Schalke 04 facing off against Excel Esports. Medic will return to the broadcast for week 8, which will once again feature S04 taking on Team Vitality on Friday, August 7 at 9:00am PT.
