During Week 6 of the League Championship Series, following a week of heavy upsets and multiple roster changes, we spoke with nine of the LCS teams (excluding TSM) to hear their opinion on the top teams through the league. Going into Week 5, Cloud9 was still undefeated, with TL and TSM trailing behind at 6-2, and EG and FlyQuest sitting behind them at 5-3.

However, in Week 5, not only did Cloud9 lose their first game of the Split, but TSM, EG, and FlyQuest each went 0-2. Only Team Liquid won both of their games, and out of the top five teams, the overall Week 5 record was 3-7. Furthermore, multiple teams started changing their rosters around in Weeks 5 and 6.

FlyQuest sent Jason "WildTurtle" Tran back to the LCS squad from Academy, replacing Brandon "MasH" Phan, 100 Thieves replaced William "Meteos" Hartman and William "Stunt" Chen with Juan "Contractz" Garcia and Philippe "Poome" Lavoie-Giguere. CLG replaced Kim "Ruin" Hyeong-min with Alexey "Deus" Zatorski and then exchanged them back again. Dignitas have been seemingly running an eight man roster the entire season (recently finding three wins in a row). TSM replaced Support Vincent "Biofrost" Wang with Erik "Treatz" Wessén. And finally, Evil Geniuses signed Greyson "Goldenglue" Gilmer and replaced import mid Daniele "Jiizuke" di Mauro, consequently allowing them to replace Top Laner Colin "Kumo" Zhao with Heo "Huni" Seung-hoon.

All these changes and upsets really shake up the league, but despite all that, players remain pretty confident in those currently seated at the top. We polled nine players and tallied up all their answers to bring you the Top 5 LCS teams as decided by the pros themselves.

Top 5 Teams in the LCS - According to the Pros

  1. Cloud9
  2. Team Liquid
  3. TSM
  4. EG
  5. 100

Cloud9, Team Liquid, and TSM were voted on unanimously, showing up in every player's list. Moreso, both C9 and TL were in everyone's Top 3, while TSM had a few votes at 4th and 5th place. If we created a tier list based on overall points and votes, C9 and TL would be in their own tier followed by a decent gap with TSM in a tier of their own, followed by a rather large gap with EG leading the third tier, followed closely by the rest. After EG, most teams were mentioned somewhat similarly, but 100 Thieves edged out over the rest, potentially due to their defeat of Cloud9 and FlyQuest in Week 5.

Overall, the list lines up well with the legitimate LCS standings. Currently, Cloud9 and Liquid are tied for 1st at 8-2, TSM has sole possession of 3rd at 7-3, and Evil Geniuses is tied for 4th with both FlyQuest and Golden Guardians. The one major difference is 100 Thieves, which currently sits at 8th place, with a 4-8 record. However, it is important to note, half of the votes came before 100 Thieves' second loss this weekend, so a more current list could land them eclipsed by the likes of FlyQuest, Golden Guardians, or another middle of the pack team. (Or they could remain, since players were also noting scrims, skill ceiling, and gut feeling.)

Look out for some big matchups this weekend, like when Team Liquid takes on Cloud9 on Sunday to challenge for the first place spot. And let us know who you think is the top team, and who you think deserves a spot on this list that the pros missed out on.
