New DLC is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on June 29, primarily in the form of ARMS' Min Min. Min Min will be the 7th DLC fighter added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate since the game's release in December 2018, and will come to the title alongside a new stage called Spring Stadium and new music tracks. Nintendo posted an announcement video for the new DLC on the official Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Facebook page, and also included a link for Fighters Pass Vol. 2.
Min Min will be the first new fighter to join the expansive Super Smash Bros. Ultimate cast in six months. The last DLC character was Fire Emblem's Byleth, who was added to the fray on January 28, 2020.
Min Min was first teased on March 29, 2020 when Nintendo announced that a character from ARMS would be joining the cast. ARMS, a 3D fighting-sports hybrid game, was developed and published by Nintendo and released on Nintendo Switch on June 16, 2017. Spring Stadium, a competitive field in ARMS, is Min Min's home stage and features a flat, hovering stage above a crowded stadium.
Volume 2 of the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Fighters Pass shows Min Min as one of six DLC characters coming soon to the game. Since Min Min is the 89th character to join the Ultimate cast, this means that by the time all planned DLC is released for the game the roster will have expanded to a staggering 94 playable characters.
Min Min also possesses the unique trait of being the first character added to Super Smash Bros Ultimate who was already a Spirit within the game. Smash Ultimate players can obtain the Min Min Fighter Spirit by completing the game's Classic Mode. Whether this means other Spirits will be made into playable characters by Nintendo in the future has yet to be made clear.
