Counter Logic Gaming Academy will not be participating in the 2020 League of Legends Championship Series Academy League Spring Playoffs. After suffering its 12th loss of the 2020 LCS Academy League Spring Split at the hands of Evil Geniuses Academy, CLG Academy was mathematically eliminated from post-season contention. 

As the 2-12 record may indicate, CLG Academy's spring has not been one of ease. The team started off at a disadvantage when Top Laner Alexey "Deus" Zatorski and Bot Laner Oh "Wind" Myeong-jin were barred from joining the team in Los Angeles due to visa issues.

After a week of both players competing remotely, it was clear that Deus would be able to play from Canada despite being disadvantaged due to the ping differential, but the ping from South Korea was assumedly too much for Wind to play through, and Counter Logic Gaming AD Carry Trevor "Stixxay" Hayes ended up subbing in for CLG Academy while Wind's visa issues were resolved.

Last week, CLG and CLG Academy traded AD Carries. Wind's LCS debut resulted in a win, but Stixxay was unable to help CLG Academy as he had in weeks past. With a record of 2-12, CLG Academy is the first team in the league to be mathematically ineligible for the post-season.

CLG Academy certainly had its fair share of struggles, but it's hard to fault the team entirely given the numerous logistical factors restricting the team from growing together in the ideal capacity of a team in the LCS Academy League. It seems now that all out-of-game issues have been resolved for CLG Academy, and the newfound stability should serve the team well come summer.
