Suggested engravings (budget + effectiveness):


  • Grudge: must have, multiplicative damage. The 20% damage increase to us is negated by our superior mobility.
  • Precise dagger: cheap and opens the door for using less crit stat to pour into swift and spec.
  • Keen blunt: couples nicely with our desired high crit rate. Becomes less effective the more crit damage you stack, can be replaced with Ambush Master but that also has pros and flaws. 
  • Spirit absorption: cheap and adds what we want out of swiftness - atk and movement (cooldowns are not that big a deal for us).
  • Esoteric flurry: additive damage to your esoteric skills but more importantly changes the esoteric skills to use only 1 bubble (only needs to be level 1, but you can max it out if you have the luxury of 3x5).




Stat comments - CRIT/SWIFT/SPEC, in that order.


  • CRIT till you can comfortably hit 70%+, with the relic set, card set, and precise dagger engraving (if you want to use it) you can bring this down to about ~900 crit max for 70%.
  • Swiftness - helps you move around for mechanics much more easily, 10% atk/movement speed combined with the cheap Spirit Absorption engraving should do nicely for a 25% atk/move speed total.
  • Spec - whatever points you have left over from the 2 above, you can put into spec to increase your damage and gauge gains.



Skill comments:


  • Flash Heat Fang: very good damage and stagger for a 14s cd, especially with tripods.
  • Violent Tiger: combos well with Flash Heat Fang (Violent Tiger -> Flash Heat Fang) as a filler combo, good damage and fast hit (low commit with 2nd tripod). Replace this with Sky Shattering Blow if you need a counter in your fight (e.g. legion raids)
  • Moon Flash Kick: decent damage, gap closer, builds a good chunk of gauge.
  • Lightning Whisper big gauge gain, atk spd buff, and crit debuff (use right before esoteric skills).
  • Sweeping Kick: decent damage (and ranged option), good gauge builder.
  • Esoteric Skill: Tiger Emerges: big damage gauge spender in an aoe around you, moves you slightly forward 
  • Esoteric Skill: Lightning Tiger Strike: big damage gauge spender and gap closer, consecutive kick allows you to move in multiple directions and requires less commit than Charged. 2 hits means its good to use for proccing Rage. Second kick can hit the boss even if you point it away (good way of getting away from a boss for mechanics).
  • Esoteric Skill: Blast Formation: big damage gauge spender in a cone, requires commitment - Galewind helps mitigate some of that. Lucky bubble allows you to get away with low spec and no Storm Dragon (it will trigger atleast several times in a fight, allowing you to save up on gauge). With decent spec (see stats section) you can replace the lucky bubble tripod with flame explosion.

FAQ:

  • Is this better than Deathblow? Yes and no: it does less damage on a stationary enemy but for highly mobile targets or hitting bosses during mechanics, it can be on par and sometimes better than deathblow (I've out-damaged most deathblow strikers on end-game content with it and took little to no damage while doing it). It also feels better.
  • Why not Cursed doll, Adrenaline, or Ambush Master? the engravings/skill combo provided is achievable with a fair budget, and as we get more new content and our gear becomes more replaceable...the budget stays as expensive the first time as it is at the 10th time. But feel free to play around with it, not a lotta wrong answers with Esoteric Flurry builds.
  • Tripod <x> is better than <y>? Feel free to swap tripods around to your liking, but the tripods above are my recommendations based on experience with being a supportless DPS.
  • Who's this for? Supportless Strikers, Strikers with no boss knowledge, Strikers looking for comfort and effectiveness combined.
