Day 2 of the 2020 LoL KeSPA Cup Ulsan took place on Dec. 22nd. Five teams in Group B played their first set of their matches, and kt Rolster stood on top of the standings with two match victories. Hanwha Life Esports, Freddit BRION and Gen.G all went 1-1 and ended the day in the middle of the pack, while T1 went 0-2 and stood at the bottom.
The only team to go 2-0 in group B tonight was KT. In the first match of the day, Choi “Doran” Hyun-joon and Son “Ucal” Woo-hyun were the key players to defeat BRION. For their 2nd match of the day, KT were able to also defeat Gen.G, despite four substitute members of the rosters being subbed in. They were both meaningful victories for the team, as Oh “Noah” Hyeon-taek, who had a subpar performance in game 1, managed to deal explosive amounts of damage in game 2.
While HLE were able to defeat T1 to take their first victory of the day, they fell to BRION in their 2nd match. Many expected HLE to come out on top of BRION due to the value that their star players, mid laner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon and bot laner Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu, brought to the table, the team continued to make mistakes, and BRION were able to properly captialize on those opportunities.
In the last match of the day, T1 and Gen.G faced off. Both teams were heading into the match with a loss from their earlier respective matches, and Gen.G were the ones to take an early lead. Gen.G took advantages from every objective fight to snowball the game, eventually closing out the game with a 10,000 gold lead and zero towers on Gen.G’s side being destroyed.
