Vitality has revealed the new roster they will use to conquer the League of Legends European Championship. After a disappointing Spring Split in the LEC, in which just two games were won, the French squad has shuffled a few players around and signed new talent in hopes to put up a better fight.
The main roster of Vitality sees three new faces. Cantoursna "Nji" An, who played for the team in their academy roster, Vitality Bee, has been officially promoted to starting Jungler. Aljoša “Milica” Kovandžić also was contracted by Vitality already, but will now make his official debut on the LEC's main stage. The third and final addition to the team is Labros "labrov" Papoutsakis, a Support player who the team acquired from Prime League team BIG. Top Laner Lucas “Cabochard” Simon-Meslet, AD Carry Markos "Comp" Stamkopoulos, and Support player Jakub "Jactroll" Skurzyński all stay on the active roster.
Organizationally, little will change for Vitality. The standout change is that Nikola "Xani" Zrinjski, who was listed as Vitality Bee's substitute Jungler, will move to the Head Coach position of Vitality Bee.
Jungler Duncan "Skeanz" Marquet, who joined Vitality at the start of the 2019 Spring Split, has been demoted to the Vitality Bee roster. In a statement, the organization expresses its appreciation for the player and the role he fulfilled on the roster, and promises to help him get back on the main stage.
An excerpt of the statement addressing Skeanz's demotion reads: "This opening into the LEC, that first we saw as an opportunity, turned into a tough situation for you and for the team. We realised that the environment you've been brought into was not yet ready for your rough talent to really shine, and was even hindering your progress in order to become one of the greatest Junglers ever seen." In the LFL, Vitality pledges, they'll work with Skeanz on his performances, leaving room to swap him back in the main roster during the Summer Split if his performance improves.
On the roster changes, Vitality President and Co-Founder Fabien "Neo" Devide commented: “Team Vitality is fully dedicated to forging the best esports athletes in the world and it was clear following the LEC Spring Split that changes needed to be made to ensure our players can reach their full potential. We have undertaken a rigorous selection process to source the best possible rosters and to secure new international talent, and we look forward to seeing how the new teams will perform together.”
