Following the developments of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the League of Legends Championship Series has decided to play its Spring Split Finals entirely in an online format. The LCS continued its regular Spring Split matches last weekend after a one week pause due to the ongoing pandemic.
In the update, LCS Commissioner Chris Greeley stated: "With the local and state guidelines to stay at home and slow the spread of COVID-19, we wanted to confirm that like the remainder of the regular season and the rest of Playoffs, the 2020 LCS Spring Finals will take place online. We’re still planning on making the 2020 LCS Finals a memorable and exciting event for our teams, players, and fans on April 18 and 19."
The outbreak of the Coronavirus has sent ripples across all of esports, with many events being postponed or canceled. For a full overview of esports events affected by the pandemic, check out our list here.
